North Carolina State teammates Kelsey Chmiel and Allie Hays finished second and fourth in the women's elite 3,000 meters at the Camel City Invitational at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Chmiel became the first female collegiate competitor to eclipse the 9-minute barrier, running 8:59.96, and Hays ran 9:05.12, followed by Wolfpack teammate Savannah Shaw placing fifth in 9:06.22. Chmiel also became one of only five women at Camel City to run under 9 minutes.
